Special sets the standard – Fashion Film Spring/Summer 2015.
ANCIENT LANDSCAPES, MISTY SECRETS.
In the briny wind, forest twigs crackle and heather sways in the air, thick with suspense. Only a steely bullet of a car and piercing eyes convey the misty secrets as headlights slice through ancient and unsettling landscapes. Who better to embody such poetic mystery than style icon and artist Tilda Swinton, starring alongside the uncompromising S-Class coupe in the new Mercedes-Benz Fashion Campaign Spring/Summer 2015, Special sets the standard.
A LUMINARY IN CONTEMPORAY CULTURE.
Over the years, Swinton has graced the silver screen in both arthouse films and blockbusters, portraying a myriad of characters ranging from the title role in the film version of Virginia Woolf’s epic Orlando, to a ruthless legal counsel in Michael Clayton and, just recently, the wealthy Madame D. in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Other projects, be it stellar theatrical performances or appearances in installation art, as well as her cutting-edge approach to fashion, have further helped establish the London-born Scotswoman as a luminary in contemporary culture.
A DREAM CREATIVE TEAM.
In this thrilling fashion film, she shrouds herself in a cryptic persona, enveloped in an elegant masterpiece styled by her long-time friend, Colombian-born designer Haider Ackermann, one of the most celebrated designers of Paris Fashion Week. Working out of his Antwerp studio, he creates pieces that balance powerful structure with sensual aesthetics. As such, his designs flow and snap with attention, much like the lines of the standard-setting Gran Performer, the new S-Class coupe.
Swinton also pulls in the expertise of cinematographer André Chemetoff, acclaimed for his work in music video productions for the likes of Lana Del Rey and M.I.A, as well as for his commercial films for clients including Dior Homme and Yves Saint Laurent.
Finally, the evocative imagery is the brainchild of photographer and filmmaker Roe Ethridge, whose work has graced the walls of the MoMA and the Whitney, as well as the pages of VOGUE, The New Yorker and W Magazine.
