Remembering the
birth of a legend.
The anniversary of the SL once again took centre stage at the Mercedes-Benz Classic stand at this year’s Retro Classics event in Stuttgart: “Sixty years ago, on 12 March 1952, the very first SL was showcased to the waiting media on a section of what is now the A 81 autobahn near Stuttgart, and became the stuff of legend from the very beginning. The impressive characteristics of the SL legend are exquisitely demonstrated by both the 1952 forerunner and the very latest SL model at the Retro Classics exhibition in Stuttgart”, according to Michael Bock, Head of Mercedes-Benz Classic.
Over an area of 540 square metres in Hall 1 of this trade fair for classic cars and automotive culture, the collector vehicles and vehicle and replacement parts offerings of the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center complemented one another well.
Alongside the vehicles exhibited from the SL sports car range, a range noteworthy historic commercial vehicles were also put on display. The contribution of Mercedes-Benz Classic to the trade fair event was topped off in Hall 7, with many brand clubs represented over an area of 1,740 square metres.
