Bernhard Langer in portrait.
Congratulations, Bernhard Langer! The German professional golfer celebrated his twentieth anniversary at the 2013 Masters in Augusta, the most prestigious championship in world professional golf.
Professional sportsman – in top form.
In 1985 and 1993 he won the Green Jacket there, and with it world renown. "I've done quite well so far, here in Augusta," said the modest world-class golfer a day before the final. Using "smart aggression" he was hoping to win the tournament in his anniversary year, and show what he is capable of. Technical and mental perfection coupled with patience are his trademarks. His unbreakable will to be the best has made Bernhard Langer what he is today: a professional sportsman in top form.
With passion to perfection.
"My aim is to be the best." This is the motto by which Bernhard Langer lives and plays. His consistent performance is unprecedented worldwide. His fellow golfers call him "Mister Consistency". What's the secret recipe for his success? His deep passion and unbounded fascination for the sport: "I love golf". Even over thirty years of playing, it still grips him: measuring himself, always providing top performance technically and mentally, and staying in control in all situations. He also loves being close to nature, and travelling: "I'm very happy to have a job where I can work outdoors and in the most beautiful places in the world!
I love travelling, but of course it's wonderful to get back home to see my wife and children again and spend time with them." Not only with his sporting achievements, but also in his role as father and devout Christian, Bernhard Langer is a role model for many people.

Backseat talk with Bernhard Langer
At the age of eight, Bernhard Langer, from Anhausen in Bavaria, had his first contact with golf through his brother Erwin. He worked as a caddie and thus developed his passion for the sport. At age seventeen he won his first professional tournament, the German Open, and soon joined the professional league.
Perfection takes time.
He won a total of 42 tournaments on the European Tour, was twice the worldwide number one and joined the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002. Since 2007 he has successfully played in the Champions Tour in America, which he won in 2008 and 2009, and during these two years, he won a total of seven championships. In 2010 the Senior Open Championship and the U.S. Senior Open Championship followed, extending his series of victories. After a break for injury in 2011, Bernhard Langer secured the Tour victory again in 2012 with two wins and seventeen top ten rankings. Only in the Charles Schwab Cup did Langer concede defeat to Tom Lehmann from the USA.
For 28 years there has been a perfect partnership between Mercedes-Benz and the legendary golfer, based on the same values: "passion for perfection". Internationally, Bernhard Langer is an inspiring figure with his challenging golf, calm elegance, discipline and ambition – values he brings alive as the brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz.
Langer's successes have made history. But he is far from being history himself, as his successful anniversary match at the 2013 Masters showed. He still excites his audience with top-class golf. After a sublime start he succeeded in entering the final day in ninth position, and was acclaimed the second-best player in the over 55 category.
