Partner of the
Mercedes-Benz and golf – the combination
of perfection and fascination.
Welcome to the most
exclusive golf club in the world.
Magnolia Lane is the road that stands for the highest aspirations of almost all golfers. It leads to the legendary Augusta National Golf Club in the U.S. State of Georgia. The fascination emanating from this legendary golf club not only attracts amateur golfers – the best professional golfers in the world strive every year for an invitation to the Major that is held here, “The Masters”. The winner receives a very special award – the lifelong right to compete in this invitational tournament. Even Franz Beckenbauer is fascinated by this legend, as he drives down Magnolia Lane in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with Bernhard Langer, who won the right to wear the coveted victor’s Green Jacket not just once but twice here in Augusta. There appears to be hardly a blade of grass without a story woven around it.
Tradition and sporting perfection are twinned here in harmony. Nowhere are these values so celebrated as here in Augusta. These are values for which Mercedes-Benz stands, too. Since 2008 the automotive manufacturer has sponsored the Masters Tournament with full conviction.

Two legends at Augusta
Golf in its most pristine form - the Open Championship.
The Open Championship, also known as the British Open or simply The Open, was the first Major that established itself in professional golf. “The Open” stands for the rule that every golfer – whether amateur or professional – has the chance to qualify. The Open Championship is the only Major played outside the USA, and was held for the first time at the Prestwick Golf Club on the Scottish coast on 17 October 1860. The Open Championship has since then grown into one of the greatest sporting events in the world, attracting over 200,000 golf fans year after year from all over the world. As of 2011 Mercedes-Benz is the exclusive patron of this important Major and offers its customers – through the Mercedes Trophy – a unique opportunity to participate in this tournament:
“Drive to the Major” is a singular special competition through which participants can qualify for the Monday tournament after the Open, and play on the very same course where the legends of golf competed the day before.
Professionalism in its purest form – Mercedes-Benz and the PGA Championship.
And the final Major of the year also has Mercedes-Benz as a valued partner. “Glory’s last shot” is the nickname given to the PGA Championship by the professional golfers – the last chance for the players to win a great title in the year. And that is why there is hardly a notable golfer who would miss this Major organised by the PGA of America (Professional Golfers Association). This association held the tournament for the first time in 1916 with the object of holding a high-level competition exclusively for professional golfers, since at that time the tournament and golf sporting activities in general were determined by amateur golfers. To this day the original concept is mirrored by the qualifying mode that explicitly excludes any invitation to amateurs and reserves a specific amount of competition places for the best PGA golf instructors.
Through its connection with the PGA of America, Mercedes-Benz is also the official automotive partner of the Senior PGA Championship, held since 1937, which makes it the longest-standing Major in the senior field.
