of the IAA.
Mercedes-Benz had a winning start at the IAA for commercial vehicles 2012, literally. At the beginning of the show, Head of Daimler Buses, Hartmut Schick was presented with the coveted "Bus of the Year 2013" prize for the Citaro Euro VI.
Equally glorious was the manner in which other Mercedes-Benz Bus models in the form of the Travego, Tourismo, Intouro and Sprinter Travel 65 also put themselves on show for the swathes of interested visitors to the show.
Citaro – „Bus of the Year 2013“.
The real bus highlight at the show is a true prize-winner: Mercedes-Benz presented the Citaro Euro VI for the first time. The "Bus of the Year 2013" scored well with the international jury of specialists because it is economic to run, also because it is environmentally friendly and safe, having a modern design and being well-suited to future requirements. The Citaro currently already fulfils the Euro VI emissions standard and even already takes into consideration the future EC R 66/01 rollover regulation. Thanks to the electronic stability program ESP®, the Citaro Euro VI has an exemplary level of safety. The chassis has stabilisers, electronically regulated level control as well as pitch and roll control. The lighting concept is unique with its bi-xenon headlamps, front fog lamps with integrated cornering light function and LED daytime running lamps. This comprehensive equipment opens up a new chapter in terms of the safety equipment used in regular-service buses.
Travego – travel
like the stars.
You too can travel in style just like the German national football team does: the Travego M Edition 1 makes this a possibility. The premium high-deck touring coach from Mercedes-Benz is the official team bus of the German national squad and asserts itself at the top of its class thanks to features like Active Brake Assist 2 or Attention Assist. Even the new BlueEfficiency Power engine of the Travego Edition 1 sets standards. Low fuel consumption, low pollutant emissions and low engine noise characterise the in-line six-cylinder engine whose 12.8 l displacement offers performance figures of 350 kW (476 hp). This assembly makes the Travego the first touring coach to comply with the future Euro VI emissions standard. Further highlights of the flagship include LED daytime
running lamps, the tyre pressure monitoring system and the new fully automated GO 250-8 PowerShift eight-speed transmission, now operated using a steering column lever. Also aboard are large easy-to-read instruments and a driver's workplace which is now even better suited to the needs of the driver.
Intouro – top economy.
The Intouro is now even more appealing to the rural-service, school, regular service and own-account transport segments. From acquisition right through to re-sale, the Intouro scores highly with its attractive life cycle costs. Besides its functional and largely standardised equipment level, this is also due to the numerous components and assemblies which have been adopted from other tried-and-tested Mercedes-Benz rural-service stars. Both technically and optically, the Intouro fits perfectly into the Mercedes-Benz Bus family. Together with powerful, efficient and durable engines, the Intouro's high passenger capacity and generous service intervals make the bus a truly economic alternative in the rural-service bus segment. In all things ride comfort, the Intouro is also the ultimate benchmark in its segment. His well-balanced driving characteristics are provided by the Intouro's chassis which makes use of fully-fledged touring coach technology.
Tourismo – the economic miracle.
Since its world premiere at the IAA in 2006, the Mercedes-Benz Tourismo has been a truly successful model: more than 5000 units sold make the economic miracle the number one. The drivetrain of the Tourismo is the key to its economic efficiency: the in-line six-cylinder engine with up to 315 kW (428 hp), BlueTec® diesel technology with SCR technology and AdBlue injection ensure low fuel consumption whilst maintaining low emissions. The special GO 240-8 PowerShift eight-speed transmission shifts fully automatically and also significantly helps keep fuel consumption down. As with all touring coaches from Mercedes-Benz, the Tourismo offers excellent levels of safety equipment as standard, including the electronically regulated braking system (EBS),
all-round disc brakes, anti-lock braking system (ABS), acceleration skid control (ASR), Brake Assist (BA), cruise control, hydrodynamic retarder, Continuous Braking Limiter (DBL) and above all, the electronic stability program (ESP®).
Sprinter Travel 65 – the specialist for excursions.
Large glazed segments, a panoramic windscreen extending up to the roof, a large rear window, the chrome radiator grille, exclusively designed passenger compartment with Travel Star Xtra luxury seating, air conditioning and an air-sprung rear axle: the Sprinter Travel 65 is the flagship of the Sprinter range. It is a striking vehicle with convincing detailed solutions.
The Sprinter Travel 65 offers the utmost level of comfort for excursions and tours. What's more, it steals the show thanks to its special touring coach rear end and luggage compartment door, as well as its luggage compartment which measures in at approximately 2 m3 and the interior width which has been extended by around 10 cm.
