One of the strengths of the new GL is enabling relaxed and therefore safe driving under all possible conditions. With standard 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive, start-off assist, downhill speed regulation (DSR) and a special off-road driving program, the GL is ideally equipped for tours on unsealed roads. The ON&OFFROAD package, with six different transmission modes, optimises driving dynamics and driving safety, as does the optionally available active roll stabilisation system, ACTIVE CURVE. Complementing these advantages, both the BlueTEC diesel engine in the GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC and the GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY with turbocharged BlueDIRECT petrol engine deliver impressive performance in conjunction with high efficiency.
On average, the new GL-models undercut the first generation consumption figures by around 19 percent.
