A new home for
Mixed Tape Music.
Discover Mixed Tape Music, the home of all things music by Mercedes-Benz. Pushing the boundaries of new music since 2004, this successful format has already propelled Mixed Tape artists to the top of the charts (Wagner Love in Japan, Fat Freddy’s Drop in New Zealand and Bev Lee Harling in the UK), garnered them prestigious awards and nominations like the Latin Grammys, led to the production of songs and remixes for global icons like Nelly Furtado or Destiny’s Child and Mixed Tape artists go on to create soundtracks for movies, games and TV spots.
After eight exciting and well-received years and nearly 550 songs, 43 free compilations and a cool 13 editions of the video clip-based Mixed Tape Music Magazine – not to mention more than 200 Mixed Tape Blog entries – Mixed Tape Music now sets out to explore new paths under the mb! magazine umbrella. Here, at its new home, Mixed Tape Music sports a new sleek look and plenty of upgrades: Beyond the format’s customary discovery and support of budding talents and regular free compilations, the editorial team will supplement the offering with video features on renowned musicians, more in-depth articles on music-related phenomena and intriguing interviews with up-and-coming artists.
Creatives about music: Nomad.
To mark Mixed Tape Music´s move into mb! Magazine, the editorial team decided to interview Nomad, Berlin’s resident artistic enfant terrible. As one of the world‘s best-known and longest serving urban artists, Nomad has been leaving his creative mark on Europe’s cities – from Paris to Berlin – since the 1980s. Nevertheless, Nomad does not consider himself part of the street art context. And thanks to a style that is as recognisable as it is versatile, he has managed to carve a unique niche between the established genres of street and high art. Nowadays, he gets as much kudos from the graffiti scene as from Hollywood stars like Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher who asked him to share their home for a month while he added his distinct artistic touches.
